You know now that I am a conservative I have been thinking about many issues that I used to have a liberal stance on. I’ve pretty much moved to the moderate-right on all of them, except the death penalty. I can’t fathom how people who call themselves pro-life can be for the death penalty. They say they want to protect life which is why they are against abortion, now I am truly on the fence when it comes to this issue which will be discussed in another blog but yet they want to argue that certain people are capable of forfeiting their lives due to their actions.
I have a problem with this because who are we to judge who deserves to live and who deserves to die? We all fall short in the eyes of the Lord. We even killed his son but yet he showed mercy on us and allowed us to live yet we can’t show that same mercy? Furthermore, I cannot help but think of the famous parable “let he who is without sin cast the first stone”. This verse has become cliche but still holds validity as Jesus uttered these famous words when speaking a group of people who were about to stone a lady to death for prostitution. I would argue this is a pretty good indication that Jesus was and is against the death penalty for exactly the reason I stated above. We are all sinners and thus pockmarked with sin. Only God has the authority to judge who can live and who can die as he was the one who created life in the first place he should be the only one who can take it away.
Killing, except out of self defense, is wrong regardless of whether it is by a scumbag thug wielding a knife of a well groomed well dressed judge wearing a black robe banging a gavel.
Thanks for Reading and God Bless

You know I was just thinking of a friend of mine and his story along with that of my own family just makes me think that America truly is the land of opportunity and that you can make it here whether you’re Black, blue, brown, or green. Here is his story:
My friend Diego arrived in Rio Vista California around 10 years ago from Peru. When his family first arrived they didn’t speak English and they lived in a barn, yes a BARN, which they shared with several other families as well as some animals. They were field workers. However through HARD WORK they learned english his sister is now a college graduate with a teaching credential and is now teaching Spanish at a public school. He is currently working towards a degree in accounting. The family now OWNS their own home and they have three vehicles. The father does landscaping and the mother does not work at all. Now they are by no means rich but they have a decent life and one important factor I’ve seen is that they never excluded GOD from their lives and that’s what motivated them to work hard.
I mean I see people like this and I look at my own family’s history and I KNOW that you CAN make it in America. Now is it difficult, YES, does racism add an extra drag to people of color making it ALSO YES, but does that mean it can be an excuse to try to steal and kill from others and not do the hard work it takes to make it and wait for government handouts, NO.
